Only a person who has permanent status and holds a green card of a special visa of non-immigrant workers can work in the US.

Almost every visa applicant in interviewed. The authorities have to get the sense of the whole situation. It is not merely a question of whether the person has a relative in the United States, or a good command of English, or a job together. Where will the money come from? What are the family his/her financial obligations? The concerned authorities look at all these facts, and listen carefully to anything else the applicant wants to tell them to show that the stay will be only temporary.

Selecting Universities

There being a number of accredited institutions imparting quality education in the United States, one generally finds it hard to make a choice. It is always advisable that instead of limiting your selection to only well known prestigious universities you should apply to about ten universities in a particular subject or field of study. In making a selection of a university you should bear in mind the following points:

- Whether the program of your choice and need is available

- To determine your academic aptitude before you apply

- Expenses involved on tuition and living

- Whether financial aid is available. If so, what is it's nature

- Whether adequate provision for specializations is available

- What are the admission requirements such as minimum academic performance and tests to be taken

- What are the research facilities and interests of the faculty

- Other important factors worth consideration are location and size of the college; climate conditions; quality of student life on the campus; facilities of libraries and laboratories etc.
